Seattle is Ready
It is time to make the Internet a city-owned and operated utility.
Whether you're living in Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, Capitol Hill or Northgate, you deserve equitable access to fast and affordable Internet.
When it comes to our utilities, equity shouldn't be something we need to negotiate with private business. Here in Seattle, we don't rely on for-profit companies to provide our water or electricity. The Internet shouldn't be any different.
Other cities have already created their own municipal broadband networks, like Chattanooga, Tennessee and Wilson, North Carolina.
It is time for the City of Seattle to do the same thing.
